An international observer from Venezuela at the presidential elections in Abkhazia Ricardo Abut called the elections of the head of the state a democratic act. He told journalists about it today in the International press centre in Sukhum.
"We are very glad that here one can vote, what many countries of the world don’t have. It doesn’t matter who will win at these elections, the main thing is that you (Abkhaz) can use the right to free expression of will electing the head of the state", the said.
Ricardo Abut is the chief of the international department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela. He has already participated as an observer in the elections in South Ossetia. Abut said that the head of the state Hugo Chavez had supported independence of Abkhazia with the recognition and it was quite natural for Venezuela to have sent an observer.
On September 10, 2009 Venezuela recognized independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Over 80 international observers from different countries of the world have arrived at presidential elections in Abkhazia. |
