ABKHAZIA’S, RUSSIA’S CUSTOMS OFFICIALS INTEND TO SIGN AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION AND INTERACTION IN CUSTOMS AFFAIRS

A meeting with the stats-secretary, the Federal Customs Service of Russia deputy head Konstantin Chaika and the first deputy chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Abkhazia Said Tarkil where they discussed the draftt agreement between the Russian Federation and Abkhazia on cooperation and mutual understanding in customs affairs was held in Moscow. Before this Said Tarkil had been received by the FCS of the Russian Federation head Andrey Belyaninov.
“Signing of this agreement will allow to simplify and accelerate the procedure of cargoes registration and transition through the Russian-Abkhaz border”, an Abkhaz delegation member, the chief of the customs registration and customs control department of the State Customs Committee Batal Avidzba said. “In the shortest possible time the Abkhaz party’s remarks on the draft agreement will be considered for its further signing”.
Besides, a plan of bilateral activity for 2010 within the framework of customs services of the two border states cooperation was discussed at the meeting. It provides for the Abkhaz customs officers training in the Russian Federation, practice in customs registration and control, exchange of experience in the sphere of use by law-enforcement divisions of the customs bodies of new means and methods of struggle against customs offences. “Representatives of the Russian customs service are to be sent to work for the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Abkhazia”, Avidzba said.
