Today the President Sergey Bagapsh met with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek.

“I’m pleased to welcome you in Abkhazia. After our last meeting we managed to solve a lot of questions and problems, some are being solved”, Bagapsh said. He also said that in Abkhazia they realized that relations with national minorities are the main indicator of a country’s development as a democratic state.

The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities was interested in the Geneva process, as well as the development of the situation in the region.

The head of the state said that Abkhazia had laid certain hopes on the Geneva process. “Mutual concessions are necessary for the negotiations to continue. We offer to sign an Agreement on the non-use of force, but this question isn’t solved. Moreover, now we are being offered a new document. We are not discussing it and are not going to consider”, the President said.
