The Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Maxim Gvindzhia called the UN General Assembly resolution on conflicts in Georgia preconceived and biased. He said that when the document proposed by Georgia was discussed, the states that has abstained and voted against the resolution outnumbered considerably those that has supported it.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia copes well with the task of maintaining law and order in the country. Neither the leadership of Abkhazia, nor the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia requested Russia to send several hundreds of policemen, acting Interior Minister Ramin Gablaya commented on the �Expert-club� information referring to the Russian �Version� newspaper, that Russian policemen will appear in Abkhazia till the end of this year�.

The Emergency Control Department of Abkhazia plans to create a mobile fire and rescue station in the mountain village of Pshu, the spokesperson for the EMERCOD of the Republic of Abkhazia says. The EMERCOD chief Lev Kvitsinia visited the village last week-end.

Deployment of S-300 air defense systems in Abkhazia does not disturb the balance of power in the region, the French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner declared, following the results of a meeting with Russian and French Foreign and Defense Ministers. �S-300 is an anti-missile system, and I don't see any serious disturbance to the balance in the region�, he said. �I can't say that we are happy, but we don't see any threat to anybody�.
